Hope for the Diabetic

Are you a diabetic? Diabetes is in quickly catching up with heart disease and cancer these days. 2011 statistics say that there are 25.8 million people in the United States, or 8.3% of the population, who have diabetes.

If you don't have Diabetes personally; then you probably know someone who does. It affects so many people we love.

I had the privilege to work with a friend that had Diabetes. His weight was through the roof, energy in the tank, eating habits horrible, vision impaired and overall health...scary. But, this friend of mine came to me for help. He had tried "everything" and "nothing" was working.

I shared with him the solutions I had starting with the 24 Day Challenge. He was thrilled. He made the decision right then and there that he wanted to gain back his health. He started on the 24 Day Challenge and lost numerous pounds, had to continue to cut his belt down and re-notch it, and when he went to the Dr. he told him to continue whatever he was doing because it was working. He began his journey to health and new life.

I enjoyed every moment of working with this man and his needs. He was Dr. approved and feeling great!

Now the sad part of the story. Life got in the way, stress began to surmount and he stopped pouring into his body healthy nutrition. It wasn't long before his weight increased, his moods decreased and he was right back to where he started. A few months later, out of desperation, he decided to have a gastric bypass. I don't know much about the gastric bypass except that for some it has worked and for some it has not. My friend was looking for a quick fix, instead of changing his lifestyle.

He spent the next few weeks in the hospital with complications from the surgery and after many attempts to rectify the situation he died. This was a TRULY sad day for ALL. He was a dearly loved friend and father.

I tell you this story because it grieves me so to see anyone desire health so badly that they will go to great lengths and only lose their life.

In Advocare we change lives with healthy nutrition, encouraging coaching, credible science, and long term relationships. Had my friend stayed on the healthy road with Advocare he would still be with us today, and his family and friends wouldn't be missing this first Christmas without him.

Please friends, do yourself a favor this Holiday season. Give yourself the GIFT of HEALTH. You have been given only one body and one life. Life is so worth living....live it to it's fullest.

Below are some testimonies of those with Diabetes and how Advocare has changed their lives:

"My mom is type 2. She has lot over 60 lbs with the products and her blood work has improved drastically. She is using 1/4 of the medications she used to, to control sugar. Almost off of it. She uses all the products in the Challenge plus some and has had no issues."

"My dad is type 2 and he did the challenge and then added Carbease and Fibotrim. He lost 24 lbs and 12 inches on the challenge and his heart dr told him to keep doing what he had been doing!!"

"I have a diabetic client that has the pump and still had trouble controlling her blood sugar. I started her on the challenge before Thanksgiving. She said her levels have never been so good!"

Don't  let Diabetes keep you or someone you know from experiencing optimal health! Give them the GIFT of HEALTH this Holiday Season.

Calorie Counting is NOT the Key to Successful Weight Management

Unless You Are Getting On Stage, Counting Calories Is Not the Way to Healthy Weight Loss

Forget about whether or not counting calories actually works for a second and riddle me this…who has the time to count the calories on every food or drink they put in their mouth each day? Not too many people! That alone, keeps counting calories from actually being a real solution! No Counting Calories
If you have read anything I have previously written, you already know, our position is quite simple. If the plan or program you are using, or thinking about using, is not one that can be used for a lifetime, it is NOT the answer to your weight management goals or issues. Plain and simple! There truly is nothing else to debate!
We do not gain excess weight overnight and will not lose excess weight overnight. At least not in a healthy manner anyway. For most people, those excess pounds begin to creep up, year after year, until they have reached a point of being downright unhealthy and unsightly! This is the real reason you need to have a solution that will bring your weight back down in a healthy manner, not some gimmick, scheme or process that only works for a short time!
So there is no mistake, while this unwanted weight can certainly have a negative impact on your wardrobe, as well as, your self-esteem, study after study has proven that excess weight carries far more troublesome health issues. Women with increasing weight, for example, have much higher risks of heart disease, diabetes, stroke and breast cancer, while men, see greater risks of heart disease, diabetes and colon cancer.
With that said, even more unhealthy than simply carrying the excess weight, is going through the common yo-yo effect of weight loss, weight gain, weight loss! This has been proven to be worse on the heart than simply carrying more weight throughout. Quite often, those who dive into “calorie counting” end up on this yo-yo because it is not a sustainable plan of attack.
Now, to be clear before we go on, counting calories, if done properly, with the correct starting points, targets and, most importantly, the right type of calories, can in fact work. It can also fail miserably however, due to these variables and the misconception that when counting calories, it does not matter where the calorie comes from….food or macro-nutrient type! Unfortunately, this is yet another false idea floating around out there after the hundreds of books written over the past 20 years or so about weight loss.
Recent research at Harvard University proved that specific foods were more important to weight gain, loss or maintenance than amounts! Wow! Shocking! Not!
“This study shows that conventional wisdom — to eat everything in moderation, eat fewer calories and avoid fatty foods — isn’t the best approach,” Dr. Dariush Mozaffarian, a cardiologist and epidemiologist at the Harvard School of Public Health and lead author of the study, said in an interview. “What you eat makes quite a difference. Just counting calories won’t matter much unless you look at the kinds of calories you’re eating.”
Not only that but guess what, it is also possible to exercise regularly and still not reach your weight management goals! Tell me all those people in my gym that have look the same for years don’t already know this?
“Both physical activity and diet are important to weight control, but if you are fairly active and ignore diet, you can still gain weight,” said Dr. Walter Willett, chairman of the nutrition department at the Harvard School of Public Health and a co-author of the study.
What does all this mean in the end? It simply means that the right, the healthy approach to weight loss or weight management, is a combination of real-world tasks, not some singular, tedious, unreal means such as “counting calories”. It means, managing your weight, throughout life, i
Dr. Frank B. Hu, a nutrition expert at the Harvard School of Public Health and a co-author of the new analysis, said: “In the past, too much emphasis has been put on single factors in the diet. But looking for a magic bullet hasn’t solved the problem of obesity.”
Just in case there is any question, foods like french fries, potato chips, sugar-sweetened drinks, red meats, processed meats, potatoes, sweets and desserts, refined grains, fried foods, 100-percent fruit juice, and butter, typically had the greatest impact on weight gain! Again, shouldn’t be too shocking!
The foods that resulted in best chance for weight loss or management, during the study, were fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
Dairy products had a neutral effect, which might prove shocking to some! Even more shocking to a greater number of people…those who ate more yogurt and nuts, including peanut butter, were among the greatest in weight loss.
This study once again proves that the foods themselves, more so than the number or type of calories, is actually more important! Does this mean you can’t enjoy the foods you love so much that typically won’t be good for you? Not at all! It means you merely have to be cognizant of your choices most of the time! If you are good with your nutrition 80% of the time, you will most likely have earned the 20% of freedom!
Controlling your weight for a lifetime or shedding those unwanted pounds, should not be that difficult, if you have the right plan and a much-needed support system in place to help you through! It is not about counting calories or points, but those are great ways to tap into someone’s heart and motivation with excellent marketing, now aren’t they?

You can change all that! Get started on the 24 Day Challenge today!

A Life Changes One Night at the Bowling Alley

Over the past 3 years, we have created thousands of real-world success stories with our coaching and AdvoCare solutions. Unfortunately, given the advertising and marketing gimmicks we are routinely inundated with, actual testimonials are often questioned, especially when there is no chance to connect with the transformation themselves. Well, to bring these amazing stories front and center, we will be featuring a new one every couple of weeks…and we are kicking this off with Carl Waterhouse from Erie, Pennsylvania, whose simple run in with a friend at the bowling alley one night, may have forever changed his life! AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge Success Story
Hey Carl! Thanks so much for taking some time out to share with everyone this evening! I know there are many out there who are going to find your story quite motivational! What do you say we get right to it?
If you could, give everyone an idea as to where you were when you were introduced to AdvoCare by your friend Chereen Wiser?

At that time I was in the midst of trying to lose weight the conventional way. I did lose 25 pounds before I got stuck at 250 pounds and just couldn’t seem to get to 249 or lower. I was fortunate enough to bump into Chereen at Westway Bowling Lanes who told me about AdvoCare and invited me to a presentation that weekend.

My motivation for this was that at Christmas time, my daughter got engaged and announced her wedding date of June 16th, 2012. I decided then and there that I didn’t want to walk her down the aisle looking the way I did.

Now, based on what Chereen had shared with you, how excited were you really to give the 24 Day Challenge a try?

As with any weight loss product I was skeptical. Especially since I’ve tried others but either wasn’t successful or was initially but then put the weight back on sometimes with more gain than what I loss initially! But I never did a Cleanse and metabolic system program. I thought what the heck and gave it a try.

So, your Challenge begins, how soon was it before you realized something was going on with your body?

Starting day one of the Cleanse program I started to lose weight again. Amazingly I almost lost 1 pound per day for the first 10 days!

And when you weighed and measured on the morning of Day 11, after your Cleanse Phase was over, what did you see?

I lost 8 pounds and 2” off my waist in 10 days on just the Cleanse phase! I was amazed because my expectations were to not lose much on the first 10-days but instead lose a lot on the last 14-days.
Now, Day 24, having completed your Challenge, final results? How did you feel?

I lost a total of 18 pounds and 8” total in 24 days! I have more energy than I had in 40 years and felt fantastic!

How long has it been now since you finished your Challenge? Still feeling good? Have you regained any weight?

It’s now been about 6 months and I feel like I’m a 20 years old again! I have energy and stamina I haven’t experienced in years!

I am now at my ideal weight of 215 pounds. That’s a total loss of 60 pounds and 17 ½”. My waist went from size 44” to 36”; Chest – 48” to 44”; Hips – 46” to 42”; Shirt size from XL to L; and neck size from 17 ½” Neck to 16”!

I now use Meal Replacement shakes for my breakfast meal and Spark energy drink for my coffee/cola replacement drink. Since I am now working out with trainer 6 days a month, I also utilize AdvoCare’s Pre- and Post workout products.

What really sold me on AdvoCare isn’t the weight loss but my ability to keep the weight off. I’ve been on other products and have lost a little bit of weight – 10 to 15 pounds – but always gained it back and usually a little more! That alone convinced me to start helping others reach their goals as well.
